LISA SNOWDON'S beauty secrets to beat the menopause: The presenter, 51, suffered weight gain and hair loss but these treatments helped her get back on track

Hair

I lost a lot of hair in perimenopause. Clumps came out in the shower. So I had a good cut with Zoe Irwin and now take Correxiko Wild Caught Marine Collagen capsules (£29, correxiko.com).

I also use Nioxin products, which treat the scalp – the Cleanser Shampoo (£21.25, lookfantastic.com) is great. It’s a 360-degree approach, eating the right things in combination with HRT. Now my hair is thicker than ever.

Brows and lashes

My brows grew more sparse as I got older, so I have microblading with expert Suman Jalaf (£700, suman.co.uk). They scab a little and you can’t get them wet for two weeks, but it’s worth it.

For lashes I’ve always used a Shu Uemura lash curler (about £20, amazon.co.uk).

I also love Revitalash Advanced (£59, revitalash.co.uk), a lash-growing and thickening serum. I go to Suman for an LVL treatment (about £90): they lift [perm] the lashes and dye them blue-black.

Skin

I haven’t had Botox, but I do rely on good facials. Sarah Chapman does a gorgeous lifting, sculpting massage (from £190, sarahchapman.com). As you get older it’s about layering products and feeding the skin.

I use Perricone MD Essential FX Acyl-Glutathione Chia Cleansing Balm (£39, perriconemd.co.uk) for a lovely glow; then Bio Effect EGF Serum (from £39, cultbeauty.co.uk). You don’t need much.

I like Balance Me Hyaluronic Plumping Mist (£22, balanceme.com) for treating redness or scarring, and I love Tatcha Violet-C Radiance Mask (£70, spacenk.com); your face will go purple like Willy Wonka’s Violet Beauregarde but it really does revitalise. Before a photo shoot I’ll wear Nip + Fab Hyaluronic Fix Extreme4 Hydration Jelly Eye Patches (£19.95 for 20 pairs). Make-up glides on beautifully after.

Tweakments

I’ve tried Emface (about £590), using radiofrequency with high-intensity electrical stimulation to aid collagen and elastin production. I’ve had the injectable moisturiser Profhilo with Dr Chloë Butler at Eighth & Eden (£325, eighthandeden.co.uk).

I’ve seen Dr Galyna Selezneva at Dr Rita Rakus clinic for Cristal Pro (from £895, drritarakus.co.uk) to burn stomach fat.

At the clinic I’ve also tried the Emsella chair (around £2,000 for a course of six) to strengthen the pelvic floor and Thermage (from £3,400): it smooths and tightens the skin.

Fitness

I wear an Oura Ring (from about £240, ouraring.com), a health tracking device that counts all my steps, and I aim for up to 15,000 a day

When I put on three stone, HRT gave me the energy to return to the gym. I wear an Oura Ring (from about £240, ouraring.com), a health tracking device that counts all my steps, and I aim for up to 15,000 a day.

I now lift weights in the gym. I never thought I would but it burns fat, builds muscle and has really changed my body shape. It helps protect against osteoporosis, too.

Nutrition

I take a live supplement, Symprove (£49.99 a month, symprove.com) every day to build up my microbiome

I now make my portions smaller and eat more slowly, otherwise I’d just inhale food. Also, your gut health changes as you age and can get messed up with stress, so

Body acceptance

I spent so many years having negative thoughts such as, ‘Why can’t my boobs be higher?’ These days I haven’t got time to worry about having an inner thigh gap – it’s about accepting that your body doesn’t look the same as it once did, but seeing how far you’ve come.

We have to be thankful for the good bits and gloss over the areas we’re not so keen on.
